"Finally a Pentaglisse that delivers on its promises! We arrived at 9 am to avoid the crowds, and it was the right call. The kids loved the heated sand beach. The 29°C water is perfect for relaxing without shivering."
"The concept is brilliant, even if the indoor air smells a bit of chlorine despite the continuous filtration. The Baleine Bleue is a standout attraction. I appreciated the cleanliness of the changing rooms. Note that lines for the slides can get long in the afternoon."
"A true urban escape. We enjoyed the outdoor beach during a heatwave, which felt luxurious. The Line 8 metro makes it easy to get there from the center. The value for money is decent if you book your ticket online."
"Perfect for families! The rules for children aged 4 to 12 are clear, but the staff is very attentive. The digital cinema is an unexpected bonus. The pools are spotless and the mandatory showers before entry are clearly marked."
"Great location between Suzanne-Lenglen Park and the ring road. The Pentaglisse slide is fun, but I would have preferred fewer people. The entry price of €41.50 is a bit steep, but the experience is worth it for a full day."
"We came all the way from Amsterdam just for this park. The 7,000 m² pool is huge. The straw huts on the beach are very photogenic. The welcome was warm. Bring your own towel, as they are not provided, which is clearly stated."
"The atmosphere is very tropical; you almost forget you are in the middle of Paris. The queue for the big slide was reasonable on Tuesday morning. The water quality is top-notch. Some facilities are starting to show their age, but nothing that is a dealbreaker."
"Ideal for a solo trip out. You can relax on the fine sand beach or go down the slides. The Pathé Aquaboulevard is a beautiful space. Lifeguards are everywhere, which is reassuring. The entrance is easy to find from the metro station."
"A must for kids. They loved the water games and the waves. The fact that this is the first Parisian water park (1989) gives it a historical vibe. The water is always lukewarm, which is perfect in winter. Remember to take the mandatory shower at the entrance."
"Great experience, but the price can be surprising. We paid a lot for the family tickets. However, the Pentaglisse is a unique attraction in France. The vibe there is festive. It is best to come on a weekday to avoid long waits for the main attractions."
"We enjoyed the heated beach in November, a real luxury! The atmosphere is friendly. The entry ticket is reasonable if you compare it to other urban spas. The changing rooms are clean and well-equipped. A good way to unwind away from the city noise."
"Perfect for a weekend. The Baleine Bleue slide is magnificent. Children aged 4 to 12 were well supervised by the adults present. Access via buses and metros is very convenient. The whole place is clean and well-maintained, despite the Saturday crowd."

Aquaboulevard, the largest urban water park in Europe, spans 7,000 m² in the 15th arrondissement of Paris. Inaugurated in 1989 by Jacques Chirac, it combines pools heated to 29°C, slides, lazy rivers, a sandy beach, and a Pathé cinema. In 2004, it welcomed 5.3 million visitors, generating revenue of 24.3 million euros. A destination for families and aquatic leisure enthusiasts.
History of Aquaboulevard
Aquaboulevard was inaugurated in May 1989 by Jacques Chirac, then Mayor of Paris, becoming the first water park to open in the capital. An ambitious project launched by the City of Paris and Michel Corbière, CEO of the Forest Hill group, it cost 450 million francs, well above the initially planned 280 million. This unique complex, located between the Suzanne-Lenglen multi-sport park, the Paris - Issy-les-Moulineaux heliport, and the Périphérique boulevard, established itself as the largest urban water park in Europe.
During its first year, despite one million visitors, Aquaboulevard suffered a loss of 32 million francs. Shareholders then proceeded with a capital increase of 100 million francs in 1991. In 1998, the Pathé Aquaboulevard multiplex, directed by Martine Lignon, opened its doors, invested by Jean-Louis Renoux of Gaumont. The cinema, inaugurated in December 1998, was the first in France to experiment with digital cinema between 2000 and 2008, under the technical responsibility of Philippe Binant.
In 2004, the complex reached its peak with 5.3 million visitors and revenue of 24.3 million euros. In 2021, the cinema closed in July due to a technical incident, then reopened in December. In 2022, the City of Paris announced the renovation of the site, planning the creation of housing and shops, dividing the single building into three separate blocks separated by pedestrian paths. Aquaboulevard, an emblem of Parisian life, continues to evolve while retaining its aquatic soul.
What to see at Aquaboulevard
Aquaboulevard offers a 7,000 m² water park, with 11 slides, including the famous Pentaglisse, a lazy river, wave pools, jacuzzis, geysers, and water mushrooms. The water is heated to 29°C all year round, offering a tropical experience in the heart of Paris. During the summer period, a fine sand beach is open, transforming the experience into a true seaside getaway.
The complex also features a 1,400 m² fitness room equipped with treadmills, bikes, rowers, and other cardio-training equipment, as well as a weight room. For sports enthusiasts, seven tennis courts (including one outdoor) and six squash courts are available. Movie lovers can enjoy the Pathé Aquaboulevard multiplex, composed of 14 screens, ideal for a full day out.
The blue whale, emblem of the park, comes from the former Parc océanique Cousteau and symbolizes the spirit of adventure and discovery that animates the Aquaboulevard. Special events like the ‘Anniversaire Pool Party’ or ‘Moment Partage’ are offered, ideal for families. Children aged 4 to 12 must be accompanied, and access is limited to 3 years minimum.
Why Aquaboulevard is a must-see
Aquaboulevard stands out for its unique combination of aquatic leisure, fitness, sports, and cinema, while remaining accessible by public transport. Located in the 15th arrondissement, between Suzanne-Lenglen park, the heliport, and the ring road, it is served by the Balard metro station (Line 8), the T3a tram, and the T2 tram. Parking is limited, which encourages using public transport.
Visitors appreciate the constant water temperature of 29°C, the variety of activities, and the possibility of spending a full day, from the pool to the cinema. Showers and changing rooms are available on-site, and restaurants allow for on-site lunches. Off-peak hours, in the early morning or late afternoon, are recommended to avoid crowds, especially during the summer period.
With family offers like ‘Anniversaire Pool Party’ or ‘Moment Partage’, Aquaboulevard caters to all ages. Aquagym classes and sports activities complement the offer, while the sandy beach in summer adds a touch of vacation. A unique place where the city and relaxation meet, in the heart of Paris.

Little-known anecdotes
First Parisian water park
Aquaboulevard was the first water park to open in Paris, inaugurated in May 1989 by Jacques Chirac, then Mayor of Paris. It marked a turning point in urban leisure, offering Parisians an unprecedented aquatic space in the heart of the capital. 1989 remains a pivotal date for swimming pool and slide enthusiasts.
Cousteau's Blue Whale
The iconic life-size whale, visible at the entrance of the park, comes from the former Parc océanique Cousteau. This blue whale, a symbol of marine adventure, was reinstalled at Aquaboulevard to recall the spirit of exploration and discovery. Parc océanique Cousteau is an essential reference in the history of aquatic spaces in France.
Record turnover in 2004
In 2004, the complex welcomed 5.3 million visitors and achieved a turnover of €24.3 million. This is a remarkable performance for an urban park, testifying to its popularity and lasting appeal. The year 2004 remains a peak in the park's history.
Pioneer of digital cinema
Pathé Aquaboulevard was the first French cinema to experiment with digital cinema, from 2000 to 2008, as part of a pioneering project led by Gaumont. This innovation allowed for better image and sound quality, and paved the way for the digital transition in the French film industry.
Initial investment exceeded
The project cost 450 million francs, well beyond the initially planned 280 million. This overrun, due to the scale of the complex, however allowed the creation of a unique space, integrating pools, fitness, tennis, squash and cinema in one location.
Renovation announced in 2022
In 2022, the City of Paris announced the renovation of the site, with the creation of housing and shops. This transformation aims to modernize the space while preserving its role as a leisure venue, and to better integrate the park into the urban fabric of the 15th arrondissement.
